About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today I'm excited to be talking with Dr. Jane Smith, an expert in Indigenous rights and the lead instructor for the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Rights Mobilization. Can you tell us a bit about your personal experiences and insights related to this course topic, Dr. Smith? GUEST: Certainly! I've had the privilege of working closely with Indigenous communities for over two decades. I've seen firsthand the importance of understanding and promoting Indigenous rights, and the positive impact it can have on both individuals and communities. HOST: That's fascinating. In your opinion, what are some current industry trends relevant to this course? GUEST: There's a growing demand for professionals who can help organizations and governments mobilize Indigenous rights in a meaningful and respectful way. This course provides learners with the knowledge and tools to meet that demand, and to make a real difference in the lives of Indigenous peoples. HOST: Yes, I can imagine that there would be many challenges faced in the field or while learning/teaching this subject. Can you share some of those challenges with us? GUEST: Absolutely. One of the biggest challenges is ensuring that learners have a deep understanding of Indigenous rights, history, and culture. This requires a commitment to ongoing learning and engagement with Indigenous communities. It's not always easy, but it's essential for making a positive impact. HOST: That's a great point. And what do you think the future holds for this area or industry? GUEST: I'm optimistic about the future. I believe that as more people become aware of the importance of Indigenous rights, we'll see more organizations and governments taking action to promote reconciliation and justice. This course is an excellent opportunity for learners to be a part of that movement. HOST: Dr. Smith, thank you so much for joining us today and sharing your insights on the Graduate Certificate in Indigenous Rights Mobilization. It's been a pleasure having you on the show. GUEST: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure sharing my thoughts on this important topic.
