About this Podcast

HOST: Welcome to the podcast! Today, I'm excited to have Dr. Jane Smith with us. She's an expert in education and the lead instructor for the Graduate Certificate in Intersectional Curriculum Reform. Dr. Smith, can you tell us a bit about your personal experiences and insights related to this course topic? GUEST: Absolutely! I've spent over two decades working in education, and I've seen firsthand how important it is to create inclusive learning environments. Intersectionality is key to ensuring that all students feel valued and heard. HOST: That's so true. And speaking of current industry trends, how does intersectional curriculum reform fit into the broader conversation around equity, diversity, and inclusion in education? GUEST: It's a critical component. In today's diverse classrooms, we need to address power dynamics, biases, and systemic inequalities. Intersectional curriculum reform helps us do just that, by equipping educators with the skills to analyze and reform curricula through an intersectional lens. HOST: I see. And what are some of the challenges faced in the field or while learning/teaching this subject? GUEST: One of the biggest challenges is confronting our own biases and assumptions. It can be uncomfortable, but it's essential for growth and learning. Another challenge is keeping up with the rapidly changing cultural and social landscape, but that's also what makes this work so rewarding. HOST: Absolutely. As we look to the future, what excites you most about the potential for intersectional curriculum reform to make a positive impact in education? GUEST: I'm excited to see more educators embracing intersectionality and committing to equity, diversity, and inclusion. By doing so, we can create classrooms where all students feel seen, heard, and valued. That's a future I'm eager to be a part of. HOST: Thank you so much for joining us today, Dr. Smith. It's been a pleasure talking with you about the Graduate Certificate in Intersectional Curriculum Reform. GUEST: Thank you for having me. It's been a pleasure sharing my insights and experiences with your audience.
