About this Podcast
HOST: Welcome to our podcast, today we have [Guest's Name], an expert in sustainable fashion and the lead instructor for the Global Certificate Course in Lean Sustainability for Fashion Design. Can you tell us a bit about your experience and what inspired you to create this course? GUEST: Thanks for having me! I've spent over 15 years working in the fashion industry, and I've seen firsthand the need for sustainable practices. I created this course to help fashion professionals integrate lean principles with sustainable design, reducing waste and promoting ethical production. HOST: That's fantastic. And incredibly relevant, given the increasing demand for sustainable fashion solutions. What current industry trends are most relevant to this course? GUEST: There are two major trends: circular economy and digital transformation. Circular economy strategies, like recycling and upcycling, help minimize waste. Digital tools, like 3D design and virtual showrooms, reduce physical samples and travel, lowering carbon emissions. HOST: Those sound like important advancements. Have you encountered any challenges in teaching this subject or seen them in the industry? GUEST: Yes, one challenge is the misconception that sustainability means sacrificing profit or style. In reality, lean sustainability can enhance a brand's competitiveness and appeal. Another challenge is the lack of standardization in measuring sustainability. Industry leaders are working on solutions, but it's an ongoing process. HOST: It's great to see progress being made. Lastly, how do you see the future of lean sustainability in the fashion industry? GUEST: I believe lean sustainability will become the norm, rather than the exception. As consumers become more aware of the environmental impact of fashion, they'll demand sustainable products. Brands that prioritize sustainability will not only survive but thrive in the future. HOST: Thank you for sharing your insights and expertise with us today. We're excited to see the positive impact this course will have on the fashion industry. GUEST: My pleasure. Thanks for having me!
