I've spent over 15 years working in the fashion industry, and I've seen firsthand the need for sustainable practices. Digital tools, like 3D design and virtual showrooms, reduce physical samples and travel, lowering carbon emissions. HOST: Those sound like important advancements. Have you encountered any challenges in teaching this subject or seen them in the industry? GUEST: Yes, one challenge is the misconception that sustainability means sacrificing profit or style. In reality, lean sustainability can enhance a brand's competitiveness and appeal. Another challenge is the lack of standardization in measuring sustainability. Industry leaders are working on solutions, but it's an ongoing process. HOST: It's great to see progress being made. Lastly, how do you see the future of lean sustainability in the fashion industry? GUEST: I believe lean sustainability will become the norm, rather than the exception. As consumers become more aware of the environmental impact of fashion, they'll demand sustainable products.
